How is 20mm lug width measured on a watch case?
Lug width (also called horn spacing or strap clearance) is the distance in millimeters between the interior walls of the two watch lugs. To measure, insert the inside jaws of a digital caliper between the lugs parallel to the 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock position. For 20mm timepieces, the interior measurement will read 20.0mm.
Can I interchange spring bars between different 20mm straps?
Yes, standard 20mm spring bars can be used across 20mm straps. However, diver watches like the Seiko SKX or Seiko Turtle use “fat” 2.5mm spring bars with 1.1mm tips, which require straps with enlarged spring bar tunnels. Standard dress and luxury watches use 1.5mm–1.8mm spring bars.
